Greenfield Applauds Work of NYPD, Shomrim, Misaskim and DA in Arrest and Conviction of Individual for 2 Boro Park Kidnappings

Councilman David G. Greenfield today praised the great work of the NYPD, Shomrim, Misaskim and the district attorney’s office for their collective work to bring the individual responsible for two kidnappings in Boro Park in 2007 and 2008 to justice. According to reports, Tomasso Dilillo was sentenced today to 32 years in prison, the maximum allowed under the law, for abducting two young girls who were playing on their block. The first incident occurred in July 2007, when a 4-year-old girl was taken from 52nd Street between 19th Avenue and 20th Avenue, and the second occurred in August 2008, when a 14-year-old girl was forced into a vehicle at the corner of 14th Avenue and 51st Street. In both cases, the girls were found several hours later near where they were taken from. Both instances were thoroughly investigated by the NYPD and Shomrim, and a major break in the case came when evidence located by a Misaskim volunteer linked Dilillo to both abductions.

“These incidents represent every parent’s nightmare and sent fear throughout our community. At the same time, it serves as another reminder of how fortunate we are to have the officers of the NYPD and the dedicated Shomrim volunteers keeping us safe and responding to every crime that occurs. In addition, it was the efforts of a Misaskim volunteer who went above and beyond while assisting with the search that helped ensure that this sick individual will spend decades in prison. My thanks to everyone involved in this case from beginning to end, including the district attorney’s office for obtaining justice for the victims and making sure that this individual will no longer pose a threat to our city,” said Councilman Greenfield.
