IDF soldiers involved in a navigational exercise in the western Golan Heights on Monday spotted human bones, including a skull. During recent years, searches were conducted in the area for missing IDF soldier Guy Chever, who next month will be missing for 11 years. Chever was on his way home from his area base when he just vanished. Searches of the area failed to turn up any evidence to assist authorities in the search. Family members believe Guy was abducted to Syria.
Another possibility according to police is that the remains are those of Dona Bennet, who disappeared after working a late shift at work on her way to her uncle’s Tiveria home in August 2003. In this case too, searches included the area where the bones were found, once again, without yielding any evidence.
Authorities also add that in the same area, there was a recently a fire and the bones could belong to a victim of the blaze.
Rena and Eitan Chever, Guy’s parents, commented that they are certain Guy is alive and in Syria, a position that is also accepted by German mediators and the Foreign Ministry.
