People are just bashing into stores and looting in democrat cities across the USA and their elected officials are doing nothing to help. Why are democrats ok with this?

“Why are democrats okay with this?”

Because they need the votes of the criminals and those who support them.

Because BLM demanded Democrats go soft on crime and handicap the police.

I did hear that the democrats are waking up to it and now want to increase cops

But people are smarter than that because they decriminalized everything so it’s pointless

The average Joe on the street democrats aren’t okay with it, they just won’t stop supporting the officials who are letting it happen. They probably aren’t willing to see how it connects to their own choices.

And most Republicans are ganovim and engage in immoral acts…

Studies by various public interest groups show that tax compliance among Republicans is much lower than Dems and that over 80 percent of IRS ordered tax refunds for violations of the code come from Republicans (as imputed from FEC reports) . Tax cheating is ganavah from the entire tzibur since others have to pay higher taxes to make up for the shortfall in anticipated government revenues. Likewise, a disproportionate percentage of those convicted of corporate bribery and violations of the FCPA are also self-identified Republicans (as per FEC reports and their own social media postings on behalf of candidates). The amount of ganavah by R’s pales in comparison to the nickel and dime stuff done by attributed to D’s and their misguided political leadership.

Well that was pretty off topic. We were talking about the democrats who support/allow the crime surge. You can just tell us all that you aren’t one of them

Syag: Agreed, totally off-topic, but I’ll stipulate to not being out on the streets with a PETA hoodie burning down our local vegetarian restaurant (that has a good Chassideshe hashgacha).

Gadolhadorah, taxes today are legalized stealing by the government. The colonies revolted against the British because they had to pay taxes while not being represented in the British government. Their taxes were pennies according to what we pay today and we are not represented in government either, only special interest group with a lot of $ are. The government keeps on stealing from the citizens to spend on stupid things to get these politicians spending the money reelected. The list of ridiculous things the government spends on is miles long.

A large percentage of Democrats get away without paying ANY taxes, most of them are in the low income bracket getting tons of programs i.e. handouts from government coffers.

Republicans love divorce. The only two US presidents who were divorced are Reagan and Trump. Children of divorced couples are more likely to commit crimes.

GH- cute 😁 i meant one of the supporters. That was my point, the democrat citizens don’t condone the crime. But are you willing to vote against the democrats who do? Will you vote them out of office?

    GH,

“ Studies by various public interest groups show that tax compliance among Republicans is much lower than Dems and that over 80 percent of IRS ordered tax refunds for violations of the code come from Republicans (as imputed from FEC reports) .”

-Maybe its due to more Republicans/Conservatives having jobs and businesses, so tax laws and tax crimes are more relevant and prevalent to this political group.

Gadol > a disproportionate percentage of those convicted of corporate bribery and violations of the FCPA are also self-identified Republicans

What are the numbers, specifically. Anecdotally, I do not see different attitudes towards honesty based on party affiliation. Here is what I found:

A wiki page listing convicted politicians has 73 Rs and 58 Ds after 1990. All republicans in early 1900s. Starting 1960 to 2000, and looking just at Congress – 2 to 1 Ds, and after 2000 about equal.

here is some data from 2020 small business survey: 40% are R, 28% are D. Other surveys have 40% R and 22% D. Bigger difference among bigger business CEOs – 60% donated to R, 20% to D.

So, if politicians belong to parties in the same ratio as either small businessmen or CEOs, then D-s are more corrupt.

Democrats do not need to defend themselves on this – simply because crime is not exclusive to democratic states.

Just like poverty, domestic violence, drugs, teen pregnancy, lack of higher education, covid19 etc.. are not exclusive to one political party.

Thankfully he had stopped for a few months.

lakewhut picks one example and blows it a million times out of proportion as if that is proof positive that republican states don’t have crime problems.

AAQ: Obviously there is no objective source of data on convictions under the securities and banking laws, tax code, foreign corrupt practices act, and old fashioned fraud and contract law violations. When I scanned the annual SEC enforcement reports, I didn’t recognize many of the names whose FEC contributions skewed heavily Democratic. My point, as I think you surmised, was a bit sarcastic in terms of the stupidity of painting a poltiical party, racial or religious group etc. with a broad brush and saying that they ALL are X, Y or Z (or maybe all 3)

    #2045057

GH, that wiki page looked like an objective source, thanks for pushing me to find it.
As to sarcastic point, there are definite perceptions about parties. In addition to crime – based on all the defund police calls, the same small business survey says that 87% of R businessmen think that their party is good for business, while only 63% of D think that theirs is … But I don’t think these perceptions will convince you or, more importantly D- politicos. Most of them seem to think that their only problem is perception – that they don’t explain their wonderful ideas, they just need to explain better (and “educate”) the stubborn electorate. Sad.

The reality is that democrats (“liberals”) believe their ideology is above the law. What makes sense to them is correct regardless it being illegal. They will tell you that openly and call the offenders hero’s publicly. If in fact the percentage of tax evaders are Republicans, they know they are doing something wrong. After getting caught they won’t say, “well taxes are theft” and no republican will publicly come to their defense.

Which political party uses the term “peaceful protest” to describe rioting, looting, burning and other mob violence?

Which political party lets violent criminals out of prison because cash bail is “unfair” to poor people?

Which political party supports “defunding” the police?

Which political party considers it racist if the proportion of black people arrested is greater than the number of white people arrested, even though black people commit far more crimes of violence than white people?

    Etc.

Last I checked most of those looters broke and stole less than $900 which, in Los Angeles, is not a crime.

Democrats don’t love crime more than the Republicans just they don’t want that the police should contribute to it.

Reb E- When democrats believe in putting criminals right back on the streets instead of locking them up then the only possible conclusion is that democrats love criminals.

From states like NY (and other democratic states) who believe very strongly in their no bail law. Like when you have repeat offenders they keep letting them back on the street with no bail. Common knowledge

    #2047597

amom, you got to take the whole package. These are same democrats that bring all government programs that help you. More “law and order” republicans tend to tie public assistance to work encouragement/requirement. Current welfare work requirements are due to mid 90s Republican reform that reduced number of people on welfare from 13 mln to 3 mln.
