Police officials report the elite Yomam anti-terror commando unit is ready for any eventuality, here and abroad.

Its latest training exercise dealt with a simulation of a terrorist takeover of an El Al jumbo jet, one of the worst nightmares a government can face.

The latest exercise was carried out on a 747, with success, reporting that the unit neutralized the threat and took back control of the plane in seven minutes.

Last Sunday, senior police, ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) and other officials were invited to observe the training event. Police Chief Dudi Cohen stated before the drill began that the Yomam is an exemplary unit, capable of providing a response to any threat, both in Israel and abroad.
