On Monday afternoon, Police arrested a Chareidi man, on the suspicion that he was the man who destroyed the Meron Memorial for the fallen victims of the disaster that took the lives of 45 people on Lag Ba’Omer.
The suspect, a 23-year-old resident of the Meah Shearim neighborhood in Jerusalem, destroyed the memorial together with a number of other accomplices. The suspect was questioned on Monday for a number of hours prior to his arraignment hearing.
On the 14th of July, a number of extremists arrived at the corridor where the ‘crush’ took place and proceeded to tear down the memorial signs hung in the honor of those who died.
One of the Askanim involved with the upkeep of meron told BeChadrei Charedim that: “These people are most likely members of the Neturei Karta who were in the north as part of a group visit to the tzion of the Arizal in Tzfat.

There are people in yerushalayim, benei berak, beit shemesh etc who hold it is wrong to ever have hanging in a public place a picture of people’s faces (tznius/ tzelem elokim reasons/ images of people can be used for avoida zoro reasons/ or the like)
You will never see in some more “extreme” areas of these towns pictures of peoples faces for this reason (they are torn down very quickly).
I’m not saying these people were right, I’m not saying these people were wrong.
I just know that there are many people like this.

Whenever a Chareidi street protest is reported on YWN, it is accompanied with an undertone of condemnation of the Chareidim for taking to the streets. Yet, when reporting Dati Leumi demonstrations — when they are reported — one does not get this sense of condemnation. Pn the contrary, the articles often evince a sort of admiration for the protesters, I suppose because Dati Leumi demonstrations are ALWAYS justified, and the cops are always unnecessarily violent when trying to contain a Dati Leumi demonstration.
And this trickles down to the Commenters, many of whom don’t live in Eretz Yisroel, who’s comment often reflect the same attitude as the article.
Talk about objectivity in reporting.
