One is allowed to have parve ice cream with fleishigs and there isn’t any maris ayin. This is because it is so common place that everyone knows it is parve ice cream. Maybe the same would be true for scheduling emails?
As for the timer, although Reb Moshe held it was assur, the minhag amongst most of klal yisrael seems to be with the poskim that are matir. so it would seem that this would also be mutar.
(I heard that even Reb Moshe was aware of this fact, though I’d love to hear if anyone has verified information about this)
