Governor Paterson Undergoes More Eye Surgery


paterson.jpgGovernor David Paterson intended to return to work Sunday, after having cataract surgery the previous day.

Paterson’s procedure occurred at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan and was completed by 9:45AM Saturday.

The cataract was discovered during a laser procedure on Paterson’s left eye last month to relieve pain caused by glaucoma.

The following statement was issued by Communications Director Risa Heller:

Today at approximately 8:00 a.m. Governor David A. Paterson underwent cataract surgery. He was attended by Dr. John Danias and Dr. Robin Ginsburg at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. The Governor was sedated at 8:05 a.m. and Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos was informed of the Governor’s condition. The Governor came out of surgery at approximately 9:45 a.m. and went to the recovery room awake and alert. He is home and expects to get back to his normal schedule tomorrow.
