At a special gathering held at Moshav Nachala and Moshav Zavdiel in the Lachish area, dozens of farmers welcomed the arrival of HaRav Shmuel Auerbach, who came to offer them encouragement.
The visit was organized by Keren Shevi’is Director Rav Ben Tzion Kugler, who asked HaRav Auerbach to offer farmers chizuk. When HaRav Auerbach agreed, it was decided to hold the visit at moshavim in the Lachish area, where dozens of shomer Shevi’is farmers are located.
The visit began at the hothouses of Moshav Nachala, where HaRav Auerbach noted the quiet that prevails there. Afterwards several dozen farmers gathered in the beis knesses on the moshav, where HaRav Auerbach delivered a speech. “We came to strengthen others,” he began, “but instead we’ve founding ourselves strengthened thanks to you.” He went on to speak about the importance and the reward of farmers who follow the Torah’s primary injunction — la’asos ulekayem. “We learn the sugyos in the Mishnoh and the gemora, but there’s no end to the value of learning that leads to action, which is the essence of Torah.”
