Union officials representing state-employed social workers are someone puzzled and frustrated after 77 days of sanctions and a strike action while the government continues ignoring their demands.
While Welfare & Social Affairs Minister Yitzchak Herzog has expressed solidarity with their demands, nothing is being done towards hiring an additional 1,000 professional to assist the overburdened system, which has come to a total standstill due to the strike.
Union representatives stress they are not seeking a salary increase for the 7,000-strong organization, but they are demanding the national government allocate additional job slots since at present, the system is collapsing due to the day-to-day realities and demands placed on them.
