Price Tag Defendants Released Quietly

jailIn a deliberation which took place at the Jerusalem Magistrate Court on Sunday, 21 Kislev 5774, two minors detained on Friday, 12 Kislev on suspicion of planning to spray paint graffiti on a monastery in Jerusalem were released on condition of not entering the Yehuda and Shomron regions for one month.

The two minors were detained on Friday 12 Kislev in Jerusalem when according to the police they were on their way to spray paint graffiti on a monastery in Jerusalem. Throughout their entire detention and remand the two denied all charges. The two were defended by attorney David HaLevi of Honenu and also by attorney Itzik Baum serving as a public defender.

Friends of the youths were angered by the police who once again rushed to detain the innocent instead of dealing with the daily instances of terror, including rock-throwing attacks, carried out by Arab terrorists throughout Yehuda and Shomron. The police falsely accused two minors whose only ‘crime’ was their religious appearance and walking at night in the streets of Jerusalem.

In response to the release of the minors Honenu attorney David HaLevi, who represented one of them, said that, “My client, a minor, was interrogated about every criminal incident which occurred recently in the Yehuda and Shomron regions. Even so he was released in the end, clearly indicating that the police had no backing for their accusations.”
