The 83-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Rishon L’tzion during the early morning hours on Monday, 22 Kislev 5774 was heading to shul. He was found lying on the street by a relative. He was crossing in a designated crosswalk.
The call came in for a struck pedestrian on Moridei HaGetaot Street at about 05:30. EMS personnel tried to save the victim’s life but their efforts were unsuccessful. The driver who struck and killed the woman fled the scene.
Police report the driver was speeding and did not see the man heading to shachris, striking him and sending him flying through the air. Police are searching for the driver, using Israel Radio to call upon him to turn himself in.
