Amidror: Israel Can Attack Iran Alone

iafnRecently retired National Security Advisor Yaakov Amidror Yaakov Amidror, a former major-general in military intelligence, believes the IDF has the capabilities to launch a military assault against Iran alone. Speaking with The Financial Times, Amidror explained an Israeli assault against Iran could set that country’s nuclear program back a significant period of time.

Amidror added “Israel is a sovereign nation” and the IDF would act if and when the nation’s leaders feel such a move is necessitated. “We don’t need anyone’s permission” he added, citing the Israel Air Force has been training for such an eventuality for a long time, including training exercises involving distances around the world.

“The distance from Israel to Iran is 2,000km and one must be familiar with such targets. Anyone with radar capabilities in the Mideast knows what we are doing”.

Amidror explained that while it is clear to all that Israel is not the United States, with the latter having more military capabilities, that is not to say Israel lacks the ability to act on her own. “We aren’t bluffing here. We are very serious and we are preparing for the eventuality in which Israel will have to defend herself using might.”

Along the lines of Israel launching an attack, the Sunday Times reported that Israel’s Mossad is working with Saudi Arabia and the two nations may cooperate in attacking Iran towards eliminating the common threat.
