Obama to Meet With Health Insurance CEOs

healPresident Barack Obama, trying to rescue his much-criticized health care program, is set to discuss strategy with health insurance CEOs.

The White House meeting scheduled for Friday comes after Obama announced a substantial change to the law. The president said Thursday that insurance companies can offer people another year of coverage under their existing plans. That’s because people have been losing coverage and haven’t been able to find new plans on the balky HealthCare.gov website.

A White House official says Obama and senior aides will meet with CEOs to discuss helping people enroll in new plans and will talk about ways to minimize any disruptions as consumers switch to new plans. The official was not authorized to speak publicly in advance about the meeting and spoke on condition of anonymity.
