Porush Ousted from Knesset Plenum Sessions for 2 Weeks For Handcuffs Stunt

porThe Knesset Ethics Committee decided to oust MK Rav Meir Porush from the Knesset plenum for two week as punishment for his violating the house. The punishment refers to Porush handcuffing himself to the podium back in the summer, during a heated address pertaining to the ongoing effort to draft chareidim. MKs Moshe Gafne and Yisrael Eichler tore kriya but they were not sanctioned since they were not addressing Knesset as was the case with Porush.

Speaker Yuli Edelstein filed the complaint against Porush with the committee. Porush argued his case, based on the unprecedented atmosphere against chareidim, but the committee rejected his defense.

The two-week punishment began on Wednesday, 10 Kislev 5774.
