IAF Plane Mechanic Indicted for Sabotaging Engines

iafnAn Israel Air Force plane mechanic was indicted on Wednesday, 10 Kislev 5774 in a military court for allegedly sabotaging the engines of two fighter planes in the hope of causing them to crash. The prosecutor explains the young soldier was motivated by anger against his superior officer, and he felt this was the appropriate response. As a result of his actions an entire squadron is grounded.

The soldier serves on the Ramat David air base and charges against him include damaging property and compromising national security. His remand was extended for a week while his attorney becomes familiar with the case.

The soldier was placed under arrest last week after his superior filed a complaint with military police. It is believed that a week earlier when he was asked to check planes for flight readiness he used that opportunity to sabotage them. The damage caused by the soldier is in the tens of thousands of shekels. The prosecution alleges the soldier thought his actions would have caused the planes to crash. The defense attorney reports the charges against his client are exaggerated.

  1. I never would have expected a story like this to happen in Israel.

Also, no matter how exaggerated the soldiers lawyer thinks the charges are; If there is any truth to them at all, he still compromised national security, as well as put the lives of the pilots in jeopardy.
And that does not even take into account, the anguish of the families if the pilots would G-d forbid, crash in enemy territory to face the horrors of being their prisoners.

  2. So that’s it, he is guilty?
I am sure happy he does not need to be judged by you three guys.
One thing is for sure. Neither of you served the army!
