While Israel strongly opposes the proposed deal with Iran, 52 percent of U.S. voters still favor the current negotiations with Iran that would reduce that country’s nuclear program in exchange for lifting some economic sanctions, a new Rasmussen Reports poll shows. 29% oppose the deal that would lift some economic sanctions and 19% remain undecided.

Voters are even closely divided on how important Israel’s approval is to the U.S. diplomatic effort.

37% believe the United States should get Israel’s approval before making any nuclear deal with Iran, but slightly more (41%) disagree. Twenty-three percent (23%) are not sure.

At the same time, one-in-three voters (34%) believes the United States is still not supportive enough of Israel. Twenty percent (20%) think the United States is too supportive of Israel. Another 33% say the level of support is about right. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

But Israel’s Prime Minister is not giving up or laying low in his effort to rally the international community against a bad deal with Iran.

There is no reason to give in to Iran’s demands now, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday during a speech at the Knesset.

“There aren’t two options on Iran – a bad deal or war,” said the Prime Minister. “There’s a third option, and that’s the continuation of the economic sanctions’ pressure on Iran.”

“Iran is under great economic pressure and the advantage is with those who are pressing,” the prime minister added.
