CBS says it was misled by a “60 Minutes” source who claimed he was on the scene of a 2012 attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, when it turns out now that he was not there.
Reporter Lara Logan said Friday that CBS apologizes to viewers and will issue a correction to its Oct. 27 story Sunday on “60 Minutes.” She spoke Friday on “CBS This Morning.”
Logan had interviewed Dylan Davies, a security contractor who claimed he took part in the fighting at that mission. But the Washington Post reported a few days later that Davies had told his employer that he was not at the site.
It was revealed late Thursday that Davies had also told the FBI he was not there.
