Now that the shloshim of Maran Hacham Ovadia Yosef has passed, Klal Yisrael is just beginning to grasp the enormity of the loss of this great Gadol Hador. As with the passing of any great person, it is incumbent upon us to study and learn from their ways. This in itself creates an iluy neshamah, a merit for the niftar.
“The Legacy of Maran Hacham Ovadia Yosef” (Israel Bookshop Publications), by Yehuda Azoulay (Sephardic Legacy Series) and Rabbi Haim Ravia, is set to be released early next week. This book is chock-full of short stories and inspirational anecdotes about Maran zt”l, with a focus on his love of learning and his greatness in Torah. Accompanied by hundreds of photos, this volume paints a picture of the development of Maran from his beginnings as a young boy through his teenage and adult years, and how he was able to achieve the towering stature that personified this unique servant of Hashem and leader of His people.
Yehuda Azoulay’s comprehensive full-length biography, authorized by Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef and the family, is scheduled to be released in the coming months.
