New Yorkers Fill Up On Two Palisades Parkway Gas Stations

gas puump1.jpgTwo gasoline stations along the Palisades Parkway near the George Washington Bridge are used almost exclusively by New Yorkers, who are taking advantage of New Jersey’s significantly cheaper gas prices, according to a report in the New York Times.

New Jersey’s prices are much lower because gas taxes in New Jersey are less. There are few New Jersey drivers in those long lines, according to the report, because they know where to buy gas locally for the same low prices, without having to wait in line.

The number of gallons pumped during the first four months of this year at those two stations was up 6 percent over the same period last year.

Each of the stations, owned by Sunoco, has 16 pumps, but often they are not all in use. Even when all the pumps are working, the lines seem long.

  1. A word to the wise. The gas on Route 4 is cheaper and the lines are shorter. It is also not out of the way when coming down the Palisades when considering how long the wait is.

  2. Jersey gas stations are always karg in hiring attendants. they get away with it, so why not? They let you wait and wait for really stinking service. I wonder if anything can be done to stop them.

  3. TO ALL YOU NEW JERSEY DRIVERS WHO DO KNOW WHERE THE OTHER GAS STATION ARE PLEASE POST THEM WITH A CLEAR ADDRASS SO THIS ONE WONT BE SO BUSSY

  4. The ones on Rt 80 and Rt 4 are much cheaper.Remember, you still have to pay the toll on the GWB to get back to NY.Then the wear and tear on the car. So don’t make the trip just for that.

  5. FYI, to save time, take the lower level and go to the Lukoil in Ft. Lee. It’s usually only a cent or two higher, and almost never a line. Time is precious.

  6. It is a great Zchus for us New Yorkers to visit the great state of NJ, home of the heiligeh BMG even if its only to pass through on the way to the country or Monsey. Plus you get an added benefit of cheap gas.

  7. #8 the Lukoil one is actually cheaper $3.99 a gallon & Sunoco on palisades is $4.03 🙂 as of Friday when I filled up …
