“Heading home on the Q train yesterday when this young African American guy nods off on the shoulder of a Jewish man. The man doesn’t move a muscle, just lets him stay there. After a minute, I asked the man if he wanted me to wake the kid up, but he shook his head and responded, ‘He must have had a long day, let him sleep. We’ve all been there, right?’
He was still sleeping soundly when I got off the train 20 minutes later.
It was a small gesture, but a kind one. I love New Yorkers!”
What a wonderful reminder that every moment is a chance to do something good for another person. And not only that, but inspire the others around us with our small but powerful actions.
The name of the “shoulder rest” traveler is unknown however his righteous act is worthy of being called a Kiddush Hashem.

What’s even more, the Jewish guy had to get off while that fellow was still sleeping. Instead of getting off at his stop he remained on the subway an extra 25 minutes all the way to the end of the line at Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue so as to not wake the poor guy up!!!
Yitzchok Isaak was immediatly recognized by many of us, his friends neighbors and relatives. His quoted words are exactly what I would expect to hear from him.

You don’t become bigger by standing on top of someone else. He probably had no intention of getting any recognition. He just wanted to do a chesed. His yarmulka doesn’t change that!
