An IDF court on Thursday ordered the release of Hamas government minister Bassam al-Zahari, one of many ministers taken hostage by Israel following the June 2006 abduction of IDF Corporal Gilad Shalit in a Kerem Shalom terror attack.
Israel arrested a number of Hamas ministers, whom they hoped would serve as bargaining chips towards obtaining the release of Shalit, stating the ministers were linked directly to terrorist activities.
