Former Congressman Bob Turner today endorsed Charles “Joe” Hynes for re-election as Brooklyn District Attorney at a rally on the boardwalk in Brighton Beach. Turner was elected in a special election in 2011 and represented New York’s 9th Congressional District in Southern Brooklyn and Queens during the 112th Congress.
Congressman Turner said, “District Attorney Hynes has played a major role in keeping Brooklyn safe. He is an innovative prosecutor whose policies and programs have been replicated throughout the country. When DA Hynes took over, Brooklyn was the 5th most violent county in the nation and now it is now being called one of the 10 best places to live. This election is all about integrity and experience and Hynes has both. Ken Thompson will not release his taxes and will not debate. This goes to the heart of the race: integrity, particularly when the contest is for the Office of District Attorney. That is why I am proud to stand today with District Attorney Hynes and urge the people of southern Brooklyn and all Brooklynites to join me in supporting him for re-election on Tuesday.”
District Attorney Hynes said, “Congressman Turner has been a tremendous public servant on behalf of the people of Brooklyn and I am humbled and proud to have his support.”
