In two weeks Israel will mark the first anniversary since Operation Pillar of Defense, the most recent IDF counter-terrorism offensive intended on halting rocket fire from Gaza into Israel. It is clear to all that Hamas is far from showing signs of surrender as the terrorist tunnel infrastructure is becoming increasingly sophisticated and threatening.
Just this past Thursday night, five soldiers were injured when a bomb was detonated against them as they planned to detonate yet another smuggling tunnel. Realizing that many of these tunnels are booby-trapped, the soldiers were instructed to act accordingly and not enter, realizing the risks involved. Two of the soldiers injured are officers, one a captain and the second a lt.-colonel. One of the five injured, not the officers, sustained a serious head injury.
IDF officials report that the tunnel was 1,700 meters long and Hamas made the assumption they would send combat engineers inside to reach the far end when they blow it up. B”H that was not the case
In a related note, the families displaced from their apartments as a result of a rocket hitting a Rishon L’tzion building have yet to return home. The good news is that officials promise the work on rebuilding that apartment building is about to be completed and they should be home in the coming weeks. The tenants that were forced to relocate have been living in a rental that is being paid for by the government.

Please say Tehillim for Achiya Ben Nera, injured in a Hamas explosion in Gaza several days ago.
Achiya is currently in an induced coma after undergoing complicated surgery for injuries to his face. Doctors are trying to gradually reduce the “hardama” to see where things stand.
He also was severely injured in his eyes and the status of their functioning remains unknown.
