Naturally I come from a different generation where studying in Israel wasn’t a given and people/teens worked if they wanted or needed money.
As has been pointed out many times, it’s expensive to be a frum Jew. If you don’t work for wages you have to figure out other ways to pay for the garb and the lifestyle.
