Three caravans have been set into place on Dov Bar Yakar Street in the N’vei Yaakov area of Yerushalayim during the night. The caravans, which are already serving as a shul for daily minyanim and a kollel, have been hooked up to electricity and water.
Neighbors told MyNet that the placement of the caravans in a parking lot is not authorized and they have turned to City Hall to address the matter.
MyNet quotes City Hall officials confirming the caravans were placed without permits and the city is turning to the court for an eviction order.
An askan involved in the shul is quoted anonymously by MyNet explaining for one thing, the buildings are not taking parking spaces for they were placed on a lot intended for a public building and not a parking lot. In addition, he explains they did not act to intentionally annoy non-religious neighbors, which is not their intention, but there are some 100 residents that need a shul to daven in, calling on the city to build additional shuls in the community.
