IDF officials report that statistics during recent months point to a noticeable increase in Jenin-based terror, adding that to date; Palestinian Authority efforts to combat terrorism in the autonomous areas have been for the most part ineffective.

It should be noted that Israel recently permitted the entry of hundreds of armed PA security forces into Jenin, as well as armored vehicles, despite objections from Yesha leaders and more than a small number of senior military commanders, who warned this will only add to the number of automatic weapons being pointed at IDF soldiers operating in the area.
