Labor leader Ehud Barak recently met with Israel Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Gillerman, making him an offer to join Labor and thereby become a party candidate to serve as foreign minister in a future government.
Gillerman, who is completing his current contract in July did not comment on the report. Associates commenting on the report explain that the ambassador is not looking to enter the local political arena and he actually plans to return to the business world where he was prior to accepting his current post.
Barak officials acknowledge that during recent months the party leader has been seeking to attract fresh blood for the party, adding in such meetings, he generally does not offer cabinet posts but speaks of joining the party and advancing national interests as per the party agenda.
