According to reports publicized this week by journalists Yuval Yoaz (Yediot Achronot) and Dorit Gabai (Ma’ariv), the justices assigned to the trial of former President Moshe Katsav have conferred and decided to sentence him to jail time. They reached their decision even before the trial got underway.
In the discussions to decide if the court would accept or reject the state’s plea-bargain agreement, the justices already reached an understanding that the former president would be facing jail time.
The former president surprised his attorney and the nation when he entered the court and announced he was revoking the plea-bargain agreement, explaining he is determined to clear his good name – rejecting allegations of inappropriate behavior during his years in public office.
