Recently a giant ship carrying massive containers blocked the Suez canal and caused traffic. It got stuck for almost 6 days in a row and is now free. On march 24 was the first effort made to refloat the vessel started using 8 tugboats. It all started to expand the front area of the ship by removing the sides of the canal. As the ground was rocky and difficult to dig so it took six days for the ship to float again. Meanwhile when this blockage took place it threaned the oil prices and the prices started to rise. As the earth was rocky so at some point the digging needs to be stopped and alternate way is needed to restablish the ship.
On march 25 Suez canal authority suspended the navigation until the ship “ Evergiven ” started to float back. Now 9 tug boats and 2 dredges started the work to free the ship which is 400 meter long and 59 meter wide vessel. A team from dutch firm smit salvage arrives at the scene and start to use satellite to make the process easy and fast. They took the images and videos from the satellite and prepared a computer model for refoalting the vessel. Next day SCA accepted an offer by the US navy team of dredging experts to assist in operations along with the SCA team to free the ship. Because of the blockage other ships took a different path and diverted their course resulting in price hike of the vessels. Now what the experts are waiting for was the tide to reach it’s peak to make the ship stand on it’s foot again.
On this day march 27th partial success is achieved as the ship is now moved by 30 metres towards towards north and now the rescue effort relies on 14 tugboats pulling the ship by removing thousands of cubic metres of sand. Almost 40% of the ship is now free from sand and hopefully remaining work will be completed in coming days. Many chinese wholesale comapies like Dhgate is a china wholesale marketing company also uses sea trade to ship their goods. Today is Sunday and hopefully by tuesday we will see the ship floating.
Ever green is the name of the ship owned by a taiwanese company named evergiven. On this day March 28th a fresh attempt is made to free the ship with taking the advantage of high tide. The vessel’s front is damaged after running aground so SCA has now decided to lighten the load by removing the containers which is a time consuming and tedious process. On Tuesday march 29th this giant container vessel is now partially freed which is already half good news for the world which will make the trade arteries move again. In order to make the ship completely afloat again high pressure water needs to be injected below the ship to remove remaining sand and water and if this turns out to be a failed attempt then the only way to move the ship will be to remove those large conatainers which can cause delay and bad news for trade agencies but we see a considerable move of the ship and we see it moving and the ship is now afloat.
