Israel’s Health Ministry informed the Kupot Cholim on Monday that they can begin vaccinating recovered coronavirus patients on Tuesday.

Recovered virus patients over the age of 16 are eligible to be vaccinated three months after recovery.

They will be vaccinated with a single vaccine dose rather than two doses.

According to Health Ministry data, over 323,000 Israelis recovered from the coronavirus at least three months ago.

  1. Because

    1. they don’t necessarily have antibodies, especially if they were infected months ago.
    2. And if they do, they might not be strong antibodies. Similar reason to why we need two doses.
    3. There are other things besides antibodies that fight off infection like T cell response that the vaccines are good at triggering
    4. Vaccines may give a better reduction in transmission (which may be possible even if you’re immune)

  2. Natural infection always provides better immunity than vaccine, and so far Israeli studies have found that reinvention with corona is extremely rare, and if it does happen it is very mild.

The reason for vaccination of recovered patients is for experimentation purposes. As Phizer CEO said, Isreal is their testing lab.

  3. Is this true for one that never got their first vaccine and got covid, or even for one that got his first vaccination, and then contracted covid before making it to his second dose? Is this person as well eligible for this dose?
