Elon Shuster, Shar HaNegev Regional Council leader stated on Tuesday that the government may no longer “gamble with the blood of area residents” and the time is long overdue for a decisive military action.

Shuster stated residents have endured and been permitted to suffer for too long and the time has come to order the military to bring an end to the current situation.

While many senior IDF commanders and cabinet ministers are in agreement, one major consideration is that some fear a major military operation at this time would postpone the release of captive soldier Gilad Shalit, perhaps for a number of years.
