Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) came under fire on Thursday when footage showed him jetting off to Cancun, Mexico as his state faced a devastating power grid failure amidst a historic snow storm.
The Senator released a statement saying he was only escorting his daughters who wanted to take the vacation and he would be immediately returning to Texas.
“With school cancelled for the rest of the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends. Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon. My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas. We want our power back, our water on, and our homes warm. My team and I will continue using all our resources to keep Texans informed and safe,” said Cruz.
Meanwhile, the following is a audio Ted Cruz saying his home didn’t lose power – contrary to what he says in his statement about flying to Cancun during a winter storm that left millions without power.

The guy is a senator not the governor. He doesn’t control the infrastructure operations in Texas so he has no reason not to skip town during a power outage

Cruz is an awesome dad. He took to the Senate floor to showboat and read his daughters good night stories including Green Eggs and Ham. He left freezing Texas to the sunny beaches of Cancun only because of his daughters. In fact he is such a good Dad he should start doing it full time. There are definitely lots of people who can do better than him as Senator and our country would be better off without politicians who attempt to subvert the will of the people for political gain. Cruz is a fraud though not neccessarily the biggest fraud in the Senate because there is always Lindsey Graham.
There are lots of things seriously wrong with Sen. Ted Cruz, but this is not one of them.

If Andrew Cuomo can kill THOUSANDS of seniors by sending them back to Nursing Homes while sick and then hide the data to protect himself and State from Federal Prosecution and get away with it then this is a joke in comparison!!
Isn’t it easier to actually do your job when you do have power. So why should he stay in Texas with no power?

3) were the “friends” with them or did they meet them in Cancun? Who are they? Do they really exist?

More AP lies. The audio is clearly dated Monday Feb 15. The statement is from Thursday Feb 18.
He did *not* “jet off” on vacation. He took his daughters down there and immediately returned. The truth is he could have stayed in Mexico. What exactly was he supposed to do? What is a senator’s job at this time anyway? But he chose not to stay, and to come back as soon as he’d dropped his daughters off, just in case something came up that he could help with. Good on him.
