There was an exchange of gunfire which began during the predawn hours of Tuesday, 18 Cheshvan 5774 in the area of Bilin. IDF soldiers were under attack with rocks and other projectiles, but then the situation escalated to gunfire. A wanted terrorist managed to flee as soldiers made a number of arrests.
The suspected was pinned down in a cave as the gunfire continued for a period of time, at least a number of hours.
The decision was made to fire an anti-tank rocket into the cave thereby eliminating the terrorist. B’chasdei H’shem there were no fatalities or injuries among IDF forces.
The terrorist who was killed was affiliated with the Islamic Jihad and he was planning a bombing attack on a bus in Tel Aviv, authorities report.
