During a raid on a Talmud Torah that opened its doors to students on Sunday, the police arrested five men from the Peleg Yerushalmi in the city of Modi’in Illit. At the same time, violence erupted between Mispallelim and police officers at a Shul on Darchei Ish Street in Beitar Illit, following an attempt by the police to shut down a Minyan inside the shul.
A spokesperson for the police issued a statement which said: “Following reports that were received regarding students learning in a Talmud Torah in Modi’in Illit, police officers were sent to the school who found dozens of students inside the building. As the officers attempted to find the director of the school and order him to disperse the classes of students, dozens of men arrived and began an altercation with the officers at the scene.”
A news team that was at the location was also attacked and while police attempted to rescue them and extricate them from the crowd, the gathered Charedi men blocked the road, damaged a passing bus, and caused severe damage to police cruisers.

Does anyone remember the joke about the Jew in New Orleans during a hurricane (Katrina?) that flooded all the streets? The water rose so high in his house that only the attic was dry, and he cut a hole in the roof. A fireman in a rubber raft came by and offered to take the Jew, and he said, no thanks, I’m going to learn Torah and wait for Hashem to rescue me. An hour later, a cop in a row boat came by and offered to take the Jew, but the Jew replied as he had to the fireman. Then another hour later helicopter came by, offered to rescue the Jew, and the Jew replied as he had to the cop and firefighter. The water kept rising, the Jew’s house became submerged and the Jew died while trying to swim to higher ground. When the Jew got to the next world, he asked Hashem why He did not save the Jew. Hashem replied that He sent a raft, a row boat and a helicopter, but the Jew refused Hashem’s help.
So these cops that shut down the Talmid Torah and stop the minyan – did Hashem send them to protect the Talmidim and daveners at the minyan?
Who is the Rav-Rebbe-Possaik who is sanctioning this? Is there dass Torah or is this Yidden in goyish clothing?
