What are some the Jewish music recordings that you love and inspire you?

I highly recommend checking out Yosef Gutman, he is new on the scene and is amazing. He produces instrumental versions of nigunim that are truly high-quality works of musical art.

Of course, there is also Yonatan Razel, Zusha, and Yosef Karduner who are also all worth listening to.

@EitanBenAvraham: I had never heard of Yosef Gutman before, so I checked out some of his music and yes, it is quite lovely. Thanks for that tip!

Yosef Karduner and the Razels (Yonatan and Aaron) all feature prominently in my playlist, along with Shuli Rand, Yehuda Glantz, Udi Davidi, Levyatan, and others. And Meir Banai’s album Sh’ma Koli gets a lot of play in my house, particularly around Elul.

@Eitan, welcome to CR and congrats on your first post, I hope to hear your opinions on a variety of topic, Dan I see this is your first post too Congrats.
My taste in music is Reb Shlomo Carlebach and Abie Rottenberg, I don’t see the compelling need to imitate secular music styles

    It’s interesting.

I spent ten years living in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Nachlaot.

The Raizels and Yosef Gutman are both from Nachlaot.

Once upon a time when we were bachurs I used to sleep on Yonatan Razel’s couch when I was visiting Jerusalem from my yeshiva in Safed.

I will have to check out Shuli Rand, Udi Davidi, Levyatan, Meir Banai. I have heard of all of them but haven’t really listened.

Now that the transition is complete we can talk about something else besides Trump and Biden.

I went to a wedding last week and one of the songs they played was Piamentia’s Asher Bohrah, I asked the band leader if he knew the lyrics of the song that was the orginal song, he didn’t so I told him it called the the Land of Down Under and the words celebrate some of the most debased behaviors, he told me name me any Jewish singer who didnt borrow from non Jewish sources, I told him, Carlebach, Regesh, Devekus and Shenker
