Generally speaking, one can purchase a kilogram of tomatoes for 3.90 NIS-4.60 NIS but since last week, this has not been the case as vegetable prices have been climbing quickly. However today, that same kilogram of tomatoes is willing for 13 NIS. Squash and colored bell peppers are averaging 12 NIS/kg, and eggplant tomatoes are selling for as much as 23 NIS/kg. Cucumbers are selling on the average for 9 NIS/kg.
The reason given by farmers and handlers this time is a shortage, which leads to higher prices. Agriculture Ministry officials report that there is an annual shortage of certain vegetables between July and September and this leads to price hikes. The shortage ministry officials attribute to weather change and a sharp increase in demand in Tishrei.

Raise your hand if on the Yamim Noraim you thought about the fact that next year will be shmittah and therefore davened for plentiful crops in Eretz YIsroel this year!
WE should still obviously continue to do so!
Why do they get away with this once again???
Am I alone in thinking that a few people’s pockets are becoming a lot fatter b/c of this?
I guess a strict diet of chulent and shwarma will be in order at this time.
#4….if you consumed less pork and more chulent maybe you’d realize chulent has vegetables in it.
To commenter Jew Yorker beans are hardly vegetables. But, it seems you must be consuming a lot of them based on your hot air comments.
Maybe if we were talking about chili i’d take your comments more seriously but chulent has potatoes, onions, etc. in it as well. Reb Pork, its time to brush up on your eastern european cuisine.
