Booker Wins U.S. Senate Election in New Jersey

bookNew Jersey’s social media-happy incoming senator has given his first reaction to his election victory with a tweet.

Cory Booker says, “Thank you so much, New Jersey. I’m proud to be your Senator-elect.”

With two-thirds percent of precincts reporting, the Democratic mayor of Newark has 56 percent of the vote to Republican Steve Lonegan’s 43.

  1. Hard to win when you have to do it by more than the margin of cheating and fraud. I was zoche to see some of it at my polling place.

  2. Mark Levin: Same here in Passaic.

The Orthodox Jews in Passaic supported Booker. Booker was endorsed by Passaic’s “Orthodox” Jewish Councilmen Schaer, Munk, and Schwartz.

  3. I guess he won’t have to live in Newark anymore. Not that ever did. Also, a good way for the law firm he is associated with to get even more lucrative government contracts/deal closings.

  4. #3, I don’t understand what you’re saying. When Orthodox Jews support or endorse someone it is cheating and fraud?

And number 4, Booker isn’t associated with a law firm- that’s a New York State legislature thing where most of the crooks are “of counsel” to some silly law firm that tricks people into thinking they have prestige and influence.

  5. No. 2: If you ascribe every victory of your political opponents to fraud, you are not going to understand why you keep losing elections.

Here are two predictions you can throw in my face if I am wrong:

    a. In 2014, the Democratic party will gain seats in the House and Senate, notwithstanding the historical trend that the party controlling the White House loses seats in mid-term elections. (Today’s date: 10/17/2013)

    b. In 2016, the Democratic nominee will win the presidential election.

How can I make these predictions? Because I do not let my political preferences (which are generally for the Democratic party) blind me to the facts. Try it yourself, and you will then understand why your political opinions are so unpopular.

  6. No.6 is right on target. The blowhards on talk radio always say that the problem that republicans don’t win certain elections is because the “real” conservative isn’t the candidate, if so, they’d win it all. Hard to see finding someone as right wing as Lonogan, think that strategy just doesn’t hold any water. Get used to losing if you don’t elect moderates.
