This coming Shabbos Parshas Vayera 5774 is being declared Shabbos Chazon Ish and Shabbos Avi Ezri.

The main event will take place on motzei Shabbos in Yerushalayim, the eve of 16 Cheshvan, the yahrzeit of Maran HaGaon HaRav Elazar Menachem Mann Shach ZT”L. This event is being hosted by Degel Hatorah, and Maranan Rabbanan Gedolei Yisrael Shlita will be in attendance.

In line with the minhag of Maran HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv ZT”L, HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita has called on rabbonim and magidei shiurim around the world to use the Shabbos to focus on the words of these Torah giants, the Chazon Ish and Avi Ezri.

Rav Mordechai Blau is heading the special Degel vaad that is making the arrangements for the motzei Shabbos event and the yahrzeit, working with Rav Shach’s תודעה organization and MK Rav Moshe Gafne.

The daily Yated Neeman reports Rav Shteinman calls on the tzibur at large to increase limud Torah in light of the harsh gezeiros facing the bnei Torah community, especially over Shabbos, with an emphasis on the Torah of the Chazon Ish and Avi Ezri ZT”L.
