Ashdod police acted quickly and succeeded in removing a photo posted in which Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L is compared to Hitler YS”VZ. The photo was posted by an IDF soldier, who now faces criminal charges for his actions.
Ashdod Police Chief Noam Shekel received notification on Wednesday morning, 5 Cheshvan 5774 that a photo was uploaded to Facebook comparing Maran to the treacherous mass murderer. The complaint was filed by a local resident who stumbled on to the post.
Police computer experts tracked down the person responsible for uploading the photo within five minutes of being ordered to do so by Shekel. They contacted the 19-year-old soldier who first resisted their instructions to take down the photo based on his freedom of expression but apparently he was soon persuaded to comply with the order.
The case is being handed over to military police.

The comparison is ridiculous. To the contrary, we must show HKB”H that we are the exact opposite of the idiology of the Germans. We respect the preciousness and beauty of every single Human Being, adult and child, Tzelem Elokim. And it makes no difference what ethnicity that child was born into.
