I checked the various Board of Elections websites in areas where Frum people are the majority of the voters to see what the breakdown was:
    Lakewood, Trump 20162 Biden 5140
Boro Park AD 48: Trump 23449 Biden 4469
    Flatbush AD 45: Trump 20604 Biden 7790
Staten Island AD 63 half frum district Trump 25208 Biden 17204
    Monsey Trump 18,763 Biden 2151
New Square Trump 3254 Biden 26
Palm Tree [kiras Yoel] 10358 Biden 158
Williamburg [frum part] Trump 5225 Biden 609

Yasher koach to the many independent minded voters in Skver and KY (all 184 of you). I assume the local Boards of Elections have contacted the gabboim of your respective shuls so you get a special kavod at davening this Shabbos.

And Governor Cuomo is very well aware that the Orthodox Jews vote Republican and he has nothing to lose by persecuting the Orthodox Jews.

    What about Queens?

What, there isn’t a Frum oilam there?

@Silent Moshe, Governor Cuomo also knows that the Frum vote in Rockland unseated an 14 year Democratic Incumbent who gave nothing but grief to the frum in addition to flipping the State Senate seat red. The frum area in Staten Island also flipped an assembly district red.

    @Coffee
addict, the vote breakdown is given by assembly district, since Rosenthal’s district does not have a heavy cluster of frum in one area its hard to pinpoint the Queens vote, I also tried to get a breakdown of the five town vote and was unable to.

Silent Moishe makes an important point. If the Frum tzibur is increasingly viewed as a monolithic partisan voting block, there will be less effort by the other side to compete for their support and consider their perspective as they become viewed as “captive” to the other side.

The above comment regarding independent-minded voters of “Skver / KY” was quite shortsighted. As if there weren’t lucid minds who voted for Trump against the insane tide back in 2016, even while realizing the exercise in futility.

bored guy: Not sure what you mean “you shouldn’t vote to get things”. Most of us feel that you SHOULD vote to get candidates who support policies and programs that advance you own personal values and priorities. Sometimes those will match those of what the “leadership” of the tzibur are advocating, sometimes it won’t, especially when the leadership is narrowly focused on ONE issue. I cannot imagine that the residents of KY and Skver did their own analysis of the views of the competing candidates and ALL somehow came to the SAME conclusion (except for the 184
    “political apikorsim” referenced above).

@Bored Guy, the entire Lakewood Township population is 106,352 of that 35% of the population is under the age of 18 making the the 18 plus population 69127. Factor in about 4000 non citizens being in the total eligible voter to about 65,000. Actual number of registered voters in Lakewood 48537 and that including ALL residents Jewish and not Jewish

@Godalhatorah, Ok lets take the rest of the Greater Monsey Area, Wesley Hills, New Hempstead, Pomona, Chestnut Ridge, Airmont, these are populated by MO, Yeshivish and independent minded chasidim, Trump won those areas by 3,4,5 to 1.
How about his victory in Flatbush?

I presume you are referring tohe phrase אַחֲרֵי רַבִּים–לְהַטֹּת which is often simplistically translated as “follow the majority” and used as an early basis for democratic rule. There are others who bring down from chazal that it also can be read with the caveat admonishing us “to NOT follow the majority to do evil”.

Biden carried every election district in Riverdale, mostly by landslide margins. This is a repeat of 2016 when Clinton won. My own election district was 82 to 17 Biden in the in person vote.

There was tremendous excitement right after our socially distant mask compliant outdoor service as most of the media outlets called the election for Biden just after the service ended. (Decision Desk had called it at 850am on Friday.) Biden’s margins will increase as the mail in ballots get added to the count. I have not obtained election results from other modern orthodox areas.

The Orthodox Jewish community voted for Trump in even greater percentages than the above numbers indicate. Since there are non-Orthodox and non-Jews living in the same areas as the Orthodox Jews, when you see that an Orthodox neighborhood election district voted, say, 85% for Trump, the other 15% is mostly non-Orthodox/non-Jews voting. So well over 90% of the Orthodox voted for Trump.

@godalhatorah, I checked the 2016 results and in New Square 130 people broke ranks with the leadership and voted for Trump over Hillary and in Kiras Yoel the vote was 50/50 inspite of the fact that the leadership supported Hillary.
Just wondering if you have such accolades for those “independent minded voters” of 2016

@Charlie Hall, Riverdale is only about 1/3 orthodox, remainder being left of center so its hardly indicative of the MO thinking.
I did check Frum area of Far Rockaway and Trump beat Biden 2,3,4, to 1 depending of the district, Trump beat Biden 4 to 1 in Belle Harbor,
Trump beat Bden 4 to 1 in the frum districts of KGH, Kew Gardens and Forest Hills
These votes are much more reflective of the thinking of the MO community then an area where they only account for a third of the vote,

The frum voters are such a teeny weeny portion of the electorate, and in only one state – New York, which in presidential elections, is reliably Democratic – that no candidate cares about their votes. I think Trump pretended to care, and made some nominally pro-Israel policy decisions, only to get the financial backing of Sheldon Adelson. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

But keep in mind that Trump also got support from anti-Semites like the “Proud Boys” and right-wing anti-Semitic militias. On balance, Trump’s loss is good for the Jews.

@huju The frum vote was instrumental in throwing out a 14 year incumbent left wing assemblywoman and flipping a state senate district red in Rockland county, the frum vote was instrumental in flipping the 11 Congressional district and the 20 State senate district red in Brooklyn and Staten Island, so the frum vote mattered on the down ballot.
BTW the frum vote went heavy for Trump in Miami
PS on a per diem basis I am willing to bet that there were far more Anti Semites supporting Biden compared to Trump. Read BLM stand on Israel.

@ common saychel Reichlin-Melnick will win after mail-in ballots are counted. Also New Square voted for Reichlin-Melnick 666-95, so much for the frum vote.

@ChaninaL, Is Ellen Jaffee going to rise from the dead after the absentee voter count? How about Donald Trump in PA? Max Rose and Andrew Gounardes? at they all suddenly going to win?
I am talking facts and numbers not wishful thinking.
FYI not sure if you have the entire race numbers from Monsey so here goes a sampling:
District 20 [New Hempstead] Melnick 23 Weber 240, District 28 [Concord] Melnick 56 Weber 272, District 40 [Central Monsey] Melnick 20 Weber 376, District 60 [Airmont] Melnick 59 Weber 434
    District 56 [Forshay] Melnick 69 Weber 521, District 84 [Olympia/ Hoton Bates] Melnick 20 Weber 582 District 96 [Spring Valley] Melnick 85 Weber 388
    THE FRUM VOTE DOES MATTER!

@common saychel That’s a grand total of 2813 (mostly) frum votes cast for Weber out of the 51,571 votes he received in total, or 5.5%. Weber currently leads by 3149 votes, with 27,593 absentee ballots still uncounted, 60% mailed by registered Democrats, so do the math, Weber will not win.
To summarize, the Frum vote is just about powerful enough in Rockland County to elect Town Supervisor/ Local Dogcatcher, and that’s about it.

ChanaiaL, you obviously have zero grasp of Rockland County politics. the districts I listed were random districts from across town to show you the strength of Weber’s Support. Actually there are 108 ED in the town, of that about 50% are exclusively frum so we are talking about roughly 55 districts that are only frum, of the remaining districts about 30 are half frum, mostly Airmont, Chestnut Ridge, Wesley and New Hempstead, so about 23 districts don’t have a frum presence, I suggest you go to the Rockland BOE website and look at the Town of Ramapo map and the district by district breakdown.
It would be helpful if you know what your talking about before you write your comments.
PS Lawler wiped the floor with Jaffee is district that were heavy Dem, its a loser clique to say it anti over till is over.

Someone asked me a question that others in the CR may be better able to answer. Does the frum tzibur in EY vote in strict accordance with the directives of their rabbonim more so than here in the U.S.? It would seem to depend more what is meant by “frum tzibur”. I would guess there is more “block voting” among chassideshe voters following their rebbe rather than among Litvish voters but I have no way of confirming that.

@gadol, just about everything in Israel is politics, from the type of kippa/hat, to the hechsher that you eat to the way you vote. a Dati Leumi will only vote for Mizachi, a Sefardi will only vote Shas, a Litvsher will only got for Degel, a Chasidisher will only vote for Agudah Etc. it is so ingrained there that a Rav really does not need make directives, they just vote because how they vote is self understood.
the endorsement of a Rav can make the difference of winning or losing for example the special election for congress after Anthony Weiner resigned.

As is typical, the Irish parts of Riverdale voted more Republican this year than the Jewish areas. Trump actually won some Irish and Italian areas in the Bronx. Oh, and he carried Woodlawn Cemetery.

“zero grasp of Rockland County politics”

What I mainly know about Rockland County politics is the vile anti-Semitic “Storm is Brewing in Rockland” video that the Rockland GOP produced last year. Yet the frum areas there all voted Republican. So much for being concerned about anti-Semitism.

    Charlie,

You know about Rockland politics like you know about everything apparently. You read one item, think you understand it, but wildly misinterpret and then go on to spout nonsense.

BTW, the mishna in Parah when talking about eizov, explains that if it has a Shem Lovoi, it is not considered a kosher Eizov. That explains much of riverdale which uses a Shem lovoi regarding their orthodoxy.

@Charlie, Sadly attacking the frum community in Rockland is a bipartisan sport, some of the most vicious attacks and legislation came from the State Delegation, Ellen Jaffee was a Democrat who cause a tremendous amount of grief to the frum community and we finally showed her the door, the fact that the frum vote threw her out was duly noted in her classless concession speech, the other Democratic Assemblyman who represents Rockland and is equal to Jaffee’s hate stands a good chance of the same in 2022.

In the State Senate race it was two flawed candidate, Elijah Melnick who made it a point to attack the frum community v Bill Weber one of the leaders of Preserve Ramapo, quite a number of people skipped this vote or voted for Weber holding the nose viewing him as the lesser of two evils.

In the congressional race Jones is a protégé of AOC and that was enough for a lot of people to skip that on the ballot.
The fact is that the storm is brewing failed to get the desired results and the Democrat’s control the County Legislature and the district lines that will follow next year.

BTW the population power shift is to the Frum community who will now control Rockland County Legislature after redistricting, if the GOP runs against the community they will stay in the minority otherwise they will get a shot the majority.
PS the frum vote went to the Democrat for county clerk

“Jones is a protégé of AOC”

Apparently not. He gave an interview to Mishpacha in which he distanced himself from her anti-Zionist anti-Semitic nonsense. The pro-Israel people I talk to have been pleasantly surprised; Israel was not an issue in this race and they feared that he would be another AOC. Apparently gay progressives are on our side (Jones, Torres) while straight progressives are on the wrong side (Bowman, AOC).
