HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita participated in the levaya for Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L, traveling to Yerushalayim for kovod Hatorah. The gadol hador said “This is a great loss, a tremendous loss for the entire Jewish People”.
Rav Shteinman was not maspid the gadol hador publically, but said what he wished during the travel to Yerushalayim. After reciting Tehillim he began speaking of the great loss for Klal Yisrael. He spoke of the large zechus Rav Ovadia earned in his limud Torah and his role in bringing so many people back to the Torah derech. The rav spoke fondly of the relationship he maintained with the niftar over the years.
The gadol hador received a police escort from his home in Bnei Brak to and from the levaya.
