A friend of mine suffers from depression periodically. Serious bouts that sometimes render her homebound. She was crying to me recently about how hard it has been for her to function and how she is back on medication because of how isolated she feels not being able to see peoples faces. She said the absence of smiles and facial cues has left her spiralling down. Thankfully I had some good advice from this site and i said to her, “so what? I know of 3 or 4 people who say it makes them happier and that’s what really matters”
