The last test performed on Maran HaGaon HaRav Chaim Ovadia Yosef Shlita reveals the gadol hador has a blood infection, one of the fears doctors warned about. This appears to be the result of the rav’s weakened immune system. He will be treated with powerful intravenous antibiotics.

The infection is a major setback as the medical team is working to bring the gadol hador back to health. Just a few days ago the rav was able to begin breathing on his own and he was disconnected from the mechanical assisted breathing unit.

Family members report the rav is in great pain and urge the tzibur to continue being mispallel on his behalf.

UPDATE 5:10PM IL: Hadassah Hospital’s Professor Dan Gilon reports that the progress in the rav’s condition has halted in light of the infection. Gilon explains the rav remains in serious/stable condition, adding that as a result of the systemic infection he may have to be reconnected to the respirator to assist his breathing.
