While in the past, Interior Ministry officials did not as a rule grant citizenship to people aligned with missionary organizations, this appears to not be the case today.
The ministry is now recognizing the “Jewishness” of messianic Jews and as such, granting them citizenship.
Outraged at this new development, United Torah Judaism MK Rabbi Meir Porush plans to appeal the decision of the Interior Ministry in the Supreme Court. Porush states the ministry’s decision is nothing less than de facto recognition of their activities.
