kamala harris a few months ago said how biden is racist and supports segregation #imthatgirl movement
and also said that she believes the biden accuser
so either shes a liar or shes a disgusting person who doesnt mind being the vp of someone who in her mind is a racist and sexualy assulted someone
OR BOTH
(probably the latter)August 17, 2020 1:34 am at 1:34 am #1892804n0mesorahParticipantWhy don’t you take it up with her?

And pleeeeease, I beg of you to just respond to the question, not everything about the election that is bothering you.

August 17, 2020 11:32 am at 11:32 am #1892896jackkParticipantsom1,
The lie is that she did not call Biden a racist. If anyone heard , please send the source.
(She also did not call him a rapist, which you also did not claim outright.)
She has been critical of Biden’s position on busing to integrate schools and comments he made about segregationist senators, and she has said that she believed women who accused Biden of making them feel uncomfortable. There are many reasons why she would accept being the VP.
1) Trump is a proud racist and a accused rapist (maybe confirmed if he ever gives his DNA to the court). and she will do what it takes to defeat him.
2) She has personal ambitions and she is willing to look the other way. Similar to how a solid christian like pence can be a vp to a person who is the antithesis of most of what he believes.
3) Maybe she said these things during the campaign for the nomination even though she wasn’t 100% sure because it would help her be the nominee.August 17, 2020 11:33 am at 11:33 am #1892907jackkParticipant1
“Inherited wealth from slaveholders” . (even if it is true) she can’t be VP because of that ?

August 17, 2020 11:48 am at 11:48 am #1892927lefianiyusdaatiParticipantWhatever your politics it is an undeniably momentous and meaningful occasion that an African American woman is on the national ticket; this is a hopefully a positive step for our country. It speaks to VP Biden that he was willing to move beyond that debate (the reason I am writing is to clarify that the emes is if you watched the debate Sen. Harris NEVER called VP Biden a racist as implied by the subject line of this discussion rather she said she knew VP Biden was “not” a racist but disagreed with his reaching out to racist politicians and stance on busing) to the bigger picture to pick an undeniably accomplished and eminently qualified (in a general sense – not looking at stance on issues) running mate. We should all try not to bear grudges in our own lives. Let’s put aside voting for a moment (i.e. the argument (consensus) that President Trump-VP Pence is the ideal ticket to vote for on many fronts- in terms of Jewish/Torah values, Israel, etc.) and just focus on Sen. Harris (who regardless of who voting for, even if for President Trump-VP Pence, we should arguably get to know in case she is elected to be next VP) . She is arguably a relative moderate and looking at her support for Israel – when she ran for President – among the Democratic candidates Sen. Harris was (perhaps after Rep. Delaney) the most pro-Israel. The NY times asked all the candidates if Israel “meets international standards on human rights” – most of the Democratic candidates (as to be expected) took the opportunity to criticize Israel or talk about a two state solution – Kamala simply (impressively) answered “yes” (can google and watch this exchange). Perhaps the fact she has a Jewish husband (extremely sad that a Jewish man RL (inter)married her but have to make the best of the metzius hadevarim) and had a very positive visit to Israel will also help in terms of her support for Israel (of course no bearing on other values and policies). The election is still very much up for grabs, anything can happen in the next 80 days and President Trump being the political genius he is may very well pull out a shtarke win but as of right now in August it looks like it is VP Biden’s race to lose so all I am saying as a community it may behoove us not to berate and alienate Sen. Harris especially considering VP Biden’s age there being a strong possibility of her becoming President let alone VP. Bottom line is its all in the Ribbono Shel Olam’s hands- as chazal say “al tisvada lareshus”- our job as Yidden needless to say is to focus on our (Gemara) learning (iyun , daf, etc) and davening and chesed ; I just wanted to clarify the facts on the subject line of this discussion as stated above (that Sen. Harris did overtly call VP Biden racist) and to suggest (while encouraging others to express [even strong] opinions on her stances on the issues) to avoid overtly racist/defamatory and personal/disparaging comments about Sen. Harris on these forums over the next 80 days.
August 17, 2020 12:02 pm at 12:02 pm #1892951akupermaParticipant1. Kamala Harris is a politician, as is everyone running for national office except for Trump (it is clear what he is, but he is not a politician). She knows how to adjust her views for an audience, and to minimize insulting anyone.
Based on her previous career, she is a full fledged member of the bi-coastal elites, moderate to conservative on criminal justice issues, and in many ways a 100% normal Democrat.2. Kamala Harris is distinct in that both her parents were immigrants (a West Indian, presumably descended from British slaves as are most West Indians, and an immigrant descended from an upper class caste in India). This election is the first in which none of the candidates for either national offices are descendants of those who were in America at the time of Revolution (all recent immigrants – Trump and Harris from 20th century immigrants, Pence and Biden from mid-19th century immigrants, and not a Anglo-Saxon among them).

August 17, 2020 4:44 pm at 4:44 pm #1893116The little I knowParticipantI find all this discussion about racism pathetic. It has become an emotionally laden buzzword. There is no real definition for this, outside of the dictionary. It has taken on a life of its own, and one can use it with whatever meaning one wishes. The impact of calling someone a racist is substantial, and this, too, is an indication of the liberalism that has swallowed up the last vestiges of common sense and morality. No, I’m not saying that slavery or discrimination are tolerable. Certainly not. But the craziness that goes into the frivolous labeling of people, often not supportable by proof, is gripping our society and making it impossible to grow or exist.
I do not believe that anyone really knows what is meant by calling Biden a racist. Neither is the Democrat and MSM agenda that calls Trump a racist anything but barking this emotionally tinged word. It tells the listener that the individual should not be supported or elected. And that is worse than stupid.
While I detest the Democrat Party that has veered away from a value system that is constitutional or civil, I do not fault Kamala Harris for some of what is portrayed as “racist”. She was elected and hired to prosecute crimes. If many or even most of the defendants were black, so be it. No one forced blacks to commit crimes. So the consequences should be appropriate to their actions. And if they were white, things should be the same. Blaming a prosecutor for incarcerating blacks that are convicted of crimes is ludicrous. Quite the contrary. Refusing the prosecute criminals, of whatever color, is intolerable. To the degree she did that, she is undeserving of public office. But stop the frivolous use of the word racism. It’s childish. I recall other words we used as children to sound hurtful, equally meaningless.

Far be it for me to defend Akuperma, BUT he posted this was the first election where NONE of the candidates….and delineates Trump, Biden, Pence, Harris. You incorrectly interject with JFK and conveniently leave out the other three: LBJ, Nixon, Lodge.
Henry Cabot Lodge Jr, came from a family whose roots were in Massachusetts before the Revoluition. LBJ ancestor George Washington Baines was born near Raleigh, NC in 1809, Nixon’s Maternal line descends from Thomas Cornell who arrived in Boston in 1638.Don’t make accusations without reading and understanding a post, then check the facts.

Contrary to claims in viral internet posts, Sen. But in No Way I am conceding!
You DemonCrats could write a chapter in “Lies we Tell Ourselves – the Art of Self-deception”.From CNN:
“Yet he rarely discusses one of the earliest — and most controversial — issues he championed in the Senate: his fight against busing to desegregate schools.
When pushed by Harris on whether he was wrong to oppose busing, Biden shot back, “I did not oppose busing in America. What I opposed is busing ordered by the Department of Education, that’s what I opposed.”This was a Blatant Lie!
He didn’t want Desegregated Busing – from Any Gov. agency.
CNN Continued:
“Biden opposed busing more than four decades ago as a battle raged across the country — and in Congress — over sending white students to majority-black schools and black students to majority-white schools often far away from their own neighborhoods. Biden forcefully opposed the government’s role in trying to integrate schools, saying he favored desegregation, but believed busing did not achieve equal opportunity.
In a series of never-before-published letters from Biden, which were reviewed by CNN, the strength of his opposition to busing comes into sharper focus, particularly how he followed the lead of — and sought support from — some of the Senate’s most fervent segregationists.
“My bill strikes at the heart of the injustice of court-ordered busing. It prohibits the federal courts from disrupting our educational system in the name of the constitution where there is no evidence that the governmental officials intended to discriminate,” Biden wrote to fellow senators on March 25, 1977. “I believe there is a growing sentiment in the Congress to curb unnecessary busing.”
Biden, who at the time was 34 and serving his first term in the Senate, repeatedly asked for — and received — the support of Sen. James Eastland, a Mississippi Democrat and chairman of the Judiciary Committee and a leading symbol of Southern resistance to desegregation. Eastland frequently spoke of blacks as “an inferior race.”
“Dear Mr. Chairman,” Biden wrote on June 30, 1977. “I want you to know that I very much appreciate your help during this week’s committee meeting in attempting to bring my anti-busing legislation to a vote.”And BTW, the OP has a Good Question!
While she says – she doesn’t believe he’s a racist – she goes on to say – he was for Racist Policies.

August 19, 2020 8:42 am at 8:42 am #1893715Ex-CTLawyerParticipantTime to review your history and geography.
Jamaica is in the Americas
Black Africans, were enslaved in Jamaica
Their descendants, even if mixed with indigenous peoples (Caribbean Indian) or Whites are considered Black (in most cases).
If they immigrated to the US, they are Classified African-AmericanThe current 2020 Census, being conducted by the Trump Administration, asks respondents for Race. If the answer is Black, it acts for origins. Jamaica is one of the choices.
Blacks in the Americas since before 1808 came as slaves. Their descendants are African-American if they end up in the USA (unless they CHOOSE to be known as Mixed Race).
August 20, 2020 8:57 am at 8:57 am #1894044anonymous JewParticipantHarris’s father did not arrive in the U.S. until 1938 and considers himself a proud Jamaican. You also to seem to have overlooked the Indian half of her ancestry. So, how does that make her an African American?
August 20, 2020 11:06 am at 11:06 am #1894104Ex-CTLawyerParticipant@anonymous Jew
Under the race choices presented by the Decennial Census (an arm of the Trump Executive Branch of Government.
A person such as Harris could legitimately answer race choice as Black-African American (if she so identifies) and answer the follow up question. National Origin? African, Jamaican, etc. and choose Jamaican.Alternatively, she could have answered as Asian, with follow up as Indian.
Or…………………
She could have chosen none of the Races listed and chosen, other and entered Mixed. The US Government allows its residents to self identify race. This isn’t Nazi Germany, or South Africa under Apartheid, where the Government decides race and puts it in your ID papers.
August 20, 2020 4:06 pm at 4:06 pm #1894250anonymous JewParticipantCT, you’re the one deciding she is Black. Forget the Census , use the seichel Hashem gave you. Her paternal ancestry is Jamaican and her maternal ancestry is Indian. Also, just because people disagree with the “Trump” census , as you keep repeating, doesn’t make them a Nazi or an advocate for apartheid.

I’m not sure whom you’re referring to but in case it was me,
Its on wikipedia. I looked up her name and I looked up her dad’s name. It really didn’t take that much effort….August 21, 2020 1:13 am at 1:13 am #1894372se2015ParticipantIt was directed at you and others. This analysis of her racial and ethnic background is bizarre. Jamaica is part of America and was a British colony whose economy was based overwhelmingly on African slave labor. According to a petition sent by the Jamaican assembly to the king in 1775, there were 200,000 slaves in Jamaica at the time and very few white inhabitants. Before the u.s revolution South Carolina and Georgia has more in common with Jamaica than New York and Massachusetts. Jamaica remained loyal to England because (or in part because) they were afraid revolution against England would lead to a slave revolt and they needed British protection. Throwing in the possibility of an Irish slave owning ancestor, which is an unproven piece of trivia, is meaningless as way to claim she isn’t what she claims she is. Many slave owners raped or had illicit relationships with their slaves (would also be rape by today’s standards for what constitutes consent). Children born from those relationships were not white. Parsing her dna or reading her fathers Wikipedia page is not only not research, it is completely irrelevant.
