There has not been a clear match in the wild for this virus. There are currently two theories as to what this means. 1) The virus was circulating in remote parts of China for years. 2) Maybe it did not originate in Yunnan Province. These are only guesses. It is still mainstream opinion that it emerged in humans in China sometime last year.
I was not going by the data from China. If you look at the whole region (South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, etc.) there is no comparison to the western hemisphere. There are other factors also. But there has been significant research that claims the strain in Europe was more contagious.
