A dramatic night of searching for two missing hikers ended after midnight when both were found.
Sources tell YWN that the two boys were part of a group that visited the “Katrina Falls Hiking Trails” in the town of Rock Hill in Sullivan County.
The search prompted a massive response from numerous Fire Departments, NY Forest Rangers, NY State Police, Sullivan County Sheriff Department and dozens of Catskills Hatzolah Volunteers. A NY State Police Chopper was brought is to search from overhead using infrared and night-vision technology.
Initial responding emergency personnel located the boys clothing at the bank of the Neversink River, giving reason to believe that the boys had entered the water.
Eventually, at around 12:15AM, the two boys were located on a rock in middle of the river. A rescue was underway to have them safely taken to the shore.
YWN has been informed that the names for Tehillim of the two boys missing on a hiking trail in the Catskills is:
– Meir Simcha Elaksander ben Chana Hinda
– Yerucham Dov ben Ita Miriam

Why are camps going on hikes in away that “BOYS GO MISSING“?
How do boys end up in the water???? Did they get a pep talk about what to do, if one gets lost?

There should be some consequences for those responsible for this saga. Thanks to Hashem they were found alive.

Hikes should be banned until they have some training on how to take hikes and all hikes must have enough trained staff to make sure BOYS DON’T GET LOST!

Whether they had a map or compass would not have mattered. This had nothing to do with getting lost. They got caught among heavy rapids and were able to find safety on a large rock. They did the smart thing by waiting there for help. It may have turned out differently C”V if they didn’t.
