NYC health commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot resigned on Tuesday in protest over her “deep disappointment” with Mayor Bill de Blasio’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak and effort to keep it under control.
Part of her resignation letter reads: “I leave my post today with deep disappointment that during the most critical public health crisis in our lifetime, that the Health Department’s incomparable disease control expertise was not used to the degree it could have been,”
She added, “Our experts are world renowned for their epidemiology, surveillance and response work. The city would be well served by having them at the strategic center of the response not in the background.”

Deblasio…time to resign as well!
Really a loss for the City. She had strongly advocated to shut down sooner, especially the school system, and was sidelined when contact tracing could have been quickly activated instead of turning it over to the Mayor’s friends in the hospital corporation. Its long past time to remove this jerk from the Mayor’s office although it would probably take longer to impeach then the next mayoral election.
Good she is gone! She has caused so much hardships for us, the Jewish community, last year during and after the Measles outbreak. She kept on closing Yeshivas for any little shtus, if you still remember.
There is a youtube video showing 02 Feb 2020 when this Dr. Oxiris Barbot publicly called on the city residents to go out (public transit, restaurants) and to “certainly” not miss the (Chinese festival) parade with her boasting she herself will be there. (Apparently all that in the name of political correctness lest on appear racist against the virus).
GHT, there is no such thing as impeachment in NYC. The only one who can fire De Blasio is Cuomo.
