Tuesday AM Update on Rav Chaim Ovadia Shlita

ovadia.jpgDoctors at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital early Tuesday morning, 20 Tishrei 5774 are reporting a slight improvement in the condition of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita, who remains in a medically induced coma on a mechanical respirator.

The gadol hador’s condition is being described as stable “without significant change during the night”. The good news is the rav vital systems are stable, and that is perhaps the most important aspect of the report.

Later in the morning the medical team with consult with family members after another assessment. The family was summoned to the rav’s bedside on Monday night and was later sent home, told that while the rabbi’s condition is serious, it is not critical.

NOTE: For those in doubt regarding the rav’s name. YWN-ISRAEL is aware the gadol hador’s last name is Ovadia but this is the name announced by family members, the media and Shas officials and this is the name Am Yisrael is using for tefilos.

  1. “NOTE: For those in doubt regarding the rav’s name. YWN-ISRAEL is aware the gadol hador’s last name is Ovadia but this is the name announced by family members, the media and Shas officials and this is the name Am Yisrael is using for tefilos.”

This is getting weird and confusing, first you say his third name is ‘Yosef’, now you’re saying his last name is ‘Ovadia’……….. His last name is ‘Yosef’ and his second name is ‘Ovadia’……..

  2. The Rav was born under the LAST NAME of “Ovadia”. His name was Ovaida Yosef Ovadia. He later dropped his last name of “Ovadia”.
