@commonsaychel: Because when people in the frum community say something unkind to a BT or to Ger, or make them feel uncomfortable enough to leave the community, then this person harbors ill will, starts spreading lashon hara about the frum community. Bad press leads to diminished clout.
I think we all have to look at ourselves, as well as others in the community, and see how they treat people. Sometimes kids ask questions in school, they are made to feel bad for asking questions, they go OTD and spread lashon hara abuot the community.
I think treating everyone with kindness is key.
Second point—Obviously the more of us there are, the more clout we have. More numbers= more clout. More kiruv is needed to expand numbers (and retain people, retaining is so important)
